Sayings and exclamations I inherited from my father that confuse my wife
(1) “Lord love a duck!”
(2) “Well I’ll be dipped in buttermilk!”
(3) “Don’t carry a lazy man’s load.” (I still do this quite often — carrying more than you can handle at a time.)
(4) “Criminently!”
(5) Any of the “Jiminy” family — Willikers, Christmas, and Cricket.
I grew up with a million of these. Will post more as I remember them. Got any others?
